Dear Friends of the Parkdale Flames Hockey Association,

 

It is our pleasure to announce that our Parkdale Flames - William Reynolds Christmas Tournament will be held on November 29th, 30th, and December 1st,  2013 at McCormick Arena located at 179 Brock Street in Toronto. This is a GTHL sanctioned Tournament open to Novice and Atom House League teams only.

The Parkdale Flames invites you to participate in our tournament. To ensure your participation, we require that you complete the enclosedTOURNAMENT APPLICATION AND ROSTER, along with a cheque or money order payable to the Parkdale Flames in the amount of $500.00.

Included in this package are the Playing Rules, Regulations and Tournament Rules. Please read them carefully and understand them prior to the tournament.

PLAYING RULES AND REGULATIONS

THIS IS A GTHL SANCTIONED TOURNAMENT

Eligibility 

Tournament Dates

The tournament will be held on Friday evening November 29th, 2013, Saturday November 30th, 2013 and Sunday December 1st 2013. 

Number of Registered Players 

A maximum of 17 players, including goalkeepers, plus 3 team officials may be registered and listed on the game sheet.

Only 3 team officials shall be allowed on the bench during any game.

Starting line-up rule is waived.

No time will be given to any team to dress a substitute goalkeeper.

Equipment

All players, including goalkeepers, must wear CSA approved helmets with facemasks and BNQ approved neck protectors. 

Location

All games will be played at McCormicks Arena, 179 Brock St. Toronto

Team Fee

 Entry fee is $500.00 payable by cheque or money order. 

Door Fee

Players, children under 12 and seniors are free of charge.

Adults are $5.00 FLAT RATE for the entire duration of the tournament. 

Format

There will be 2 divisions (Novice and Atom) with 2 series in each division and 4 teams in each series for a total of 16 teams.

This is an elimination format.

Duration of Games

Each game will consist of two fifteen minute running time periods and a third period of fifteen minutes running time with the final two minutes of stop time if the game score is within two goals. Teams will change ends after each period of play.  The ice is only flooded after every other game. No game will end in a tie, first we will go to 5 minutes sudden death overtime, secondly if time allows we can choose to go to a second 5 minute overtime or 3 player shoot-outs.

Defaulting Teams

Defaulting teams will receive a $50.00 cash fine to be paid prior to their next game.  The score will be entered as 1 – 0 in the opponents favour.  If the default occurs in the third game after the defaulting team is eliminated and they do not pay the fine their hockey organization will not be invited to the tournament the next year.

Awards

In addition to awards for each eliminated participant, there will be awards for Series Winners, Finalists and Champions as well as player of the game (MVP) awards.  There will be a maximum of 20 awards for team including team officials.

Protests

No protests will be allowed except for illegal players.  Protests must be filed with the Tournament Office along with documented evidence.   

Playing Rules

All games will be played under the CAHA and the GTHL rules with the following exceptions:

Any player accumulating 12 penalty minutes or more in any one game (including majors but excluding 10 minute game misconducts) will be suspended for the next game.

Any player incurring a 10-minute misconduct penalty in the last 10 minutes of a game will be suspended for the next game.

A player receiving a game misconduct penalty or a major penalty (5 minutes) for fighting will automatically be suspended for the balance of the game plus the next game.

Ungentlemanly conduct, e.g. fighting in the arena or grounds adjacent to the arena, will result in the coaches and/or player(s) being suspended until a hearing is held by the Tournament Committee.

Line changes are not permitted with a whistled stop play when your team is serving a penalty. Changes are only allowed on the fly while serving a penalty. 

Bench Penalties

A second bench penalty incurred by a team in any game will result in the coach/coaches receiving a game misconduct penalty.

The Parkdale Flames Hockey Association is pleased to host this tournament.

TOURNAMENT RULES

Please read the Tournament Rules carefully.  They have been initiated to make the tournament run smoothly.  Your co-operation is needed. 

All tournament rules will be interpreted in a manner consistent with the objectives of the tournament; namely, fairness, safety and the enjoyment of the players.  A decision by any member of the Tournament Committee, whether or not specifically addressed by the Playing Rules and Regulations, shall be binding upon all tournament participants.

A Duty Man will lock and unlock your dressing room, provide you with the game sheet, provide the team with drinks after the game and generally assist you.

We reserve the right to suspend any flood to stay on time.

Your dressing room will be ready 20-30 minutes before the game time.

The Home Team will complete the game sheet first and turn it over to the Visiting Team at least 15 minutes before game time.  The Visiting Team will return the game sheet to the Committee Room at least 5 minutes before game time.

Each team should advise the announcer at least 10 minutes before game time of any difficult name pronunciations.

Your team should be ready to go on the ice at least 10 minutes before game time and vacate the dressing room as quickly as possible after your game to allow for cleaning.

Two minutes before game time, the Duty Man will summon your team to the ice entry gate.  Do not go on the ice until the Duty Man signals you to do so.

At game time, the music will start and both teams will go on the ice for a short warm up.

At the end of regular games players will line up on their respective blue lines and there will be a player of the game awarded to each team followed by teams shaking hands and leaving ice surface.

During the Championship game each player’s name is announced, he/she is to skate forward and than back into the line.  Names will be announced in numerical order.

 

The Tournament has been designed for the participants.  It is our responsibility to make sure they enjoy it.  Let’s do our part!!!!!!
